New data on robotic surgery confirms Italy as the pioneering country for use of the technology
Data recently presented by the Italian Society of Urology (SIU) confirms that Italy is the leading European country for use of robotic surgery.
In 2017, 18,000 procedures were performed using robotic surgery; two out of three interventions are delivered in the field of urology. Use of the technology has increased continuously from 2006 (+86%).
The news was accompanied by the installation of the 100th Da Vinci robot in the University Hospital of Catania. The Da Vinci technology, today, is present in every Italian region, with the sole exception of Molise.
