A new convention on reimbursement of next generation sequencing tests in oncology will start at INAMI
A new convention will be started at the Belgian Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI) for the provision and reimbursement of biological tests through next generation sequencing (NGS) for personalized treatment of cancers.
The decision to reimburse the use of these tests in oncology will come after the conclusion of a pilot study to describe the potential benefits and applicability of the technologies in the country.
The new convention will specify the list of specialized centres eligible for provision and reimbursement of the tests, how to apply for future inclusion in the list and conditions for inclusion and reimbursement.
The convention has identified two list of tests that will be reimbursed, one for tests used for solid tumours and the second for haematology cancers. More information is available on the INAMI website.
