The G-BA stops § 135 assessments of three potential therapies for benign prostate syndrome
The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has decided to stop the § 135 assessments of contact laser ablation (CLAP), visual laser ablation (VLAP), and transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) in benign prostate syndrome (BPS). The assessments were started in 2001 and suspended in 2010 until further evidence was collected. Now it been decided that there is no further need to assess the value of the methods in an outpatient setting. The three methods will not be allowed to be used at the expense of the statutory health insurances in the ambulatory setting.
